Density by Dan Madularu

Density by Dan Madularu

This piece was part of the 2012 Brain & Mental Health Art Show.

This image shows a Golgi-Cox Stain at 40x. Individual cortical neurons are depicted in black with their organized orientation resembling that of a forest of trees. It’s not so much the number of neurons that confer cognitive superiority and competence, but rather the density of the connections these neurons make.
