Synaptic Fusion by Trevor Rodrigues

Originally I wanted to create a painting that was based on my idea of nature vs. nurture, however it evolved over time into something a little different. I’ve never painted before and wanted to create something that was interesting and unique. The neurons in our brain are responsible for everything, from thoughts to ideas. The internal picture is meant to be an artistic picture, and the outer picture represents neurons fusing to form the artwork.

About The Artist

Trevor Rodrigues is a Master’s student in the Department of Neuroscience at Carleton University, in the lab of Dr. Alfonso Abizaid. Trevor’s research involves the hormone ghrelin and its involvement in circadian rhythms, stress, and adiposity. In the 2012/2013 year, Trevor acted as Audio Visual & Equipment Coordinator for the Society for Neuroscience, Ottawa Chapter.
