As an artist, having over 14 variants of synesthesia allows me to draw on everyday stimulation for inspiration. Whether it is a second of music from a song I know or a phrase I have read, it is an amazing feeling when recognition starts to shine through in the painting process.
It would be impossible to capture the ever-changing visuals I experience if I pre-planned what to paint. Instead I let the painting come to life and tell me what it wants to show. Through scrapping and additive spearing techniques the painting develops into something I recognize, in a way making it more abstract to the outsider.
That being said it is the connection that my painting allows me to have with other people, synesthete or not, that is the most important.
