Yorick by Meagan Osborn

Yorick by Meagan Osborn

This piece was inspired by Act 5 Scene 1 in William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. In this scene, the skull of Yorick, a deceased court jester, is exhumed and Prince Hamlet monologues about the effects of death.

There are probably very few images that compare to that of an empty human skull. The emotional response is basic, the questions too–we can’t help but replace the image with one of ourselves.
