Silver Linings by Thea Cunningham

In my life, I have both observed and experienced the overwhelming effects wrought through periods of depression and angst. Through the strength grown in the soils of the positive support sown by family, friends and loved ones, hope for better times shines brightly white through the darkened view. Love and sympathy from these sources become capable of empowering internal resilience and endurance to fight against the blackness. I created this piece to illustrate the notion that while the burden and weight of depression can be crushing with the pathetic fallacy of distress, as depicted through the desolation of the dripping cloud, the figurative sun and light will return to enrich the desperate life. This is represented through the field of white flowers on which the muse suffers. Even in the darkest days, each person must summon their deepest internal strength for the power to persevere.
